AIFD aims to educate students to become
professional practitioners in the field of fashion and related industries using the competency based
learning approach.
REGISTRATION AND ACCREDITATION
The adeefe institute of fashion and design has successfully achieved full accreditation through the Commission of technical vocational education and training (CTVET ) to offer the national proficiency certificate to garment making.AIFD is also fully registered as a private training provider in garment making.
WHAT WILL I STUDY?
As a Fashion Design student you will learn about the design process asset applies to the fashion industry. Elements covered include visual research, drawing, design process, Fashion design, knitwear design, Pattern cutting, garment construction, illustration presentation, manufacturing techniques and market research. There is a focus on understanding fashion in context and students will undertake field research, trend analysis, customer profiling and Brandon within a wide range of contexts for the fashion industry. There is opportunity to link with industry partners to live collaboration projects.
HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?
The college adopts a continuous assessment approach, in line with principles of outcomes based education. Students competence determined by their sure ability to demonstrate the required learning out comes.
Assessments criteria are clearly set out and communicated to students and assessment results are made available for verification and appeal.
All formative assessments are internally moderated and all summative assessments are externally moderated by suitably qualified and experienced subject specialists.
An appeals policy is in place for students who wish to have results reassessed, in which case the guidelines of this policy will be observed.
CERTIFICATION
Students will be awarded their certification when they have met all the exit level outcomes of the program and have demonstrated mastery over all models that make up the qualification.
STUDENT SUPPORT
ACADEMIC SUPPORT
The academic staff provide each and every learner with their support required to perform and encourage active engagement from the students through;
- Establishing a supportive with all students
- Adopting to creative approach to teaching and learning
- Providing regular constructive assessment feedback
- Monitoring and coaching
Student receive an Academic report on a quarterly basis to assist them to monitor their progress and to identify any area of concern. The college student-at-risk programme ensure that students who are not performing academically, are identified and provided with appropriate support and guidance to achieve their full potential.
ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT
Administrative staff are available to assist the students with any query they may have related to the programme that they are studying. A binding / printing / copying / scanning service is provided to all registered students, at a competitive rate.
COUNSELLING SUPPORT
This is provided in the form of information regarding possible service providers who are able to cater for their specific type of support / counseling the students requires.
STUDENT DEVELOPMENT
The student Representative committee is made-up of representatives from each year and is responsible for communicating any students recommendations or concerns.
Regular students and staff social events provide an opportunity to strengthen relations and take break from the demands of the intensive curriculum.
OPPORTUNITIES AFTER GRADUATION
As well as consequence of the range of skills acquired, fashion design graduates from AIFD
will be found in all areas of fashion industry. The program provides graduates with the knowledge and skill to design and make collections, either independently or as part of a team in design studios. As well as designing in house for international designers brands, graduates work globally at all levels of the industry, from performance sportswear to major international High- Street brand. Some have set up their own design / manufacturing business.
Others have diversified into specialist areas such as knitwear, illustration, menswear, children’s wear, millenary , footwear design, accessory design, design management, journalism, fashion, teaching, fashion styling, retail, merchandising, buying, forecasting and costume design for film, theater and television.
Increasingly graduates progressed to further study at postgraduate level to refine their creative abilities and approach.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
There is no formal entry requirements for the National Proficiency I certification, however applicants should be able to at least read and write.
Entry level for National Proficiency II Certification level is a minimum of NPI or equivalent qualification.
